Real Journeys is a family owned tourism business that was founded by tourism and conservation pioneers Les and Olive Hutchins. For over half a century, Real Journeys has been sharing the natural beauty of the southern part of New Zealand with visitors. Today the company remains true to its founders and their guiding principles of conservation and hospitality.

With operations from Stewart Island to Queenstown - including world renowned cruises through Milford and Doubtful Sounds - Real Journeys is widely regarded as a leader in the New Zealand tourism industry and is regularly named as one of New Zealand’s highest achieving tourism companies.

For our staff though, the aim is still quite simple – to share the natural heritage and astounding beauty of the region with visitors – just as the founders intended.

At Real Journeys, conservation leads action. We understand we are privileged to operate in this spectacular part of New Zealand and we take seriously our responsibility to protect our natural heritage and preserve our environment. We work closely with both the Department of Conservation (DoC) and the local communities we operate within. Real Journeys undertakes various conservation initiatives (including the Leslie Hutchins Conservation Foundation), individual wildlife projects and environmental initiatives.
